Meet our experienced crew

Rob Arrand

Captain & Head of Operations

Rob is at home on the water sailing, or in the water surfing and diving. Whether it be exploring in West Timor, Sumba or Java, he has a personality that allows him to get along well with about everyone. Don’t be fooled by his laid back persona as he is a strong leader who can take charge instantly as needed. Rob is a licensed U.S. Coast Guard Master Captain and U.S. Sailing Instructor. But be on guard, this guy has a very dry sense of humor and smiles a lot which can be very entertaining when he’s on.

Ali Wafa

Ship Manager / Crew

Ali never stops smiling even though he works harder than anyone. With over 15 years of experience in yacht service and boat building Ali knows boats inside and out.  He and his crew keep our catamaran in looking great and in top working condition

Ferdy Serah

General Business & Finance Manager

Ferdy was born in Rote, Indonesia, and has been a go-getter from age 16. Ferdy has very successfully launched and managed over half a dozen businesses in Bali. He and Rob have been close ‘family’ friends working together for the last 17 years. Ferdy is an invaluable resource for the entire SAIL4Purpose organisation and is always ready for a good laugh no matter how serious things may appear

Nasrah

Captain

Originally from Lombok, Nasrah is a Licensed Off-shore Indonesian Captain well experienced as a sailor on Indonesian waters. He’s been sailing around Indonesia for years and knows how to navigate whatever the conditions may be. He is an excellent captain to guide our powerful Pinta 65 catamaran sailing through Indonesian waters. With his calm outlook and professionalism, he’s trusted to handle any situation which may arise on the water or aboard. Whether we are sailing or moored, he’ll probably be enjoying his favorite pastime which is…. Fishing! So fresh caught fish on the barbi is very likely.

Amin

First Mate

Amin grew up on the beautiful island of Sumbawa, where he learned to sail as a kid. His father was a sailor on traditional Indonesian ships, and he wanted to follow in his footsteps. During these younger years Amin developed a real passion for the ocean. As he grew older he sailed in many different boats and has been at sea several times for more than a year at time. He’s a Licensed Indonesian Crew certified in all onboard safety and medical procedures so is a very qualified and important part of our team. If the mood is right, and the moon is just so above the horizon, he may even bust out some dance moves to about any decent international beat!

Yola

Crew & Chef

Originally from Jakarta, Yola is our wonderful ‘captain’ in command of the kitchen. As she traveled around the world during her younger years, Yola learned a verity of international cuisines. Don’t let her petit Indonesian stature fool you, she’s fully passionate, loaded with energy and ‘spice’. She has well over a decade of experience in the food and beverage industry as a waitress, bar tender, chief, restaurant and hospitality manager. Yola also has participated in a couple successful restaurant launches in Bali. She also is the little sunshine of our family, always smiling and super easy going. If you hear some soft sunset music it’ll be Yola winding down after a long day in the kitchen and on the water.

What they said

BD, Australia

Nusa Lombangan

Had such a great trip with Rob and Sail4purpose. The boat is amazing, the crew all so helpful and rob himself brings a pretty chilled vibe. It’s “every boys adventure’ and I’m keen to book a mates trip next year for others to experience. Whilst selfishly it was so pleasurable I also love the heart behind a greater purpose than just our own experience and looking forward to engaging in community projects. Thanks Rob and team!! Bd

Sam, Australia

Savu – Raijua – Rote

Incredible! Rob and the team really know what it takes to create an unforgettable trip. They designed a very detailed trip and experience from the destinations, activities, and things to see during the trip. Badran took me to surf and the Captain teach me spearfishing for the first time in remote water! Thank you! I would definitely do it again!

Ben, France

Savu – Raijua – Rote

Sailing with Sail4Purpose was definitely the best getaway I’ve ever had. We enjoyed kayaking in very quiet water, disconnect from the rat race, enjoying the breeze, and get reconnected with the nature. We enjoyed surfing in Raijua and diving in some of the most vibrant sites in the world, as well as lounging in the bean bags back at the boat and staring to the vast ocean.

Nusa Penida – South East Lombok

The Sail4Purpose planned the perfect sailing vacation to Indonesia for us. The boat is comfortable but what makes it stand out is Rob and the crew that constantly striving to do their best to make sure we have the best experience.
